Junior Youth Groups
Around the world, and in towns and cities across the United States, teens and young adults are learning how to contribute to the betterment of society.
“To every generation ... comes an opportunity to make a contribution to the fortunes of humanity, unique to their time of life. For the present generation, the moment has come to reflect, to commit, to steel themselves for a life of service from which blessing will flow in abundance.” -- from a letter to youth from the Universal House of Justice, international governing body of the Baha’i Faith
Through activities guided and initiated by the Baha’i community, youth gather regularly to explore themes and questions characteristic to the period of youth, to act on their developing sense of responsibility towards building community, and strengthen their understanding of the importance of faith and tenacity to a life of service. With a vibrant spirit and focused determination, youth from all backgrounds that engage these activities build their capacity to respond with wisdom, courage, and humility in addressing the ills currently facing society.
To respond to the needs of youth and teens throughout the world, the Baha’i community offers the Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program. This program is aimed at building the capacity for moral reasoning and channeling the energy of young people between the ages of 11 and 14, and is carried out in schools, community centers, neighbourhoods across the United States. Training and hands-on accompaniment is offered for those who wish to become Program mentors and volunteers.
